The 6th National Downhill Championship – Nepal is scheduled for 2nd April 2016. The race will be held at 2.8Km long gravity assisted track located in Hattiban near Kathmandu.
The participant reported in good number despite rainy day. The National DH championship will have a total of 6 categories; Open, Elite, Overall Title, Women, Juniors and 30+.
The top 4 riders during this race will be selected for the coming Asian Mountain Bike Championships which will be held in Thailand in the Month of May 2016.
Local sensation Rajesh Magar is one wild mountain biker who is a strong contender for this year National Downhill Championship. Rajesh will also be racing in the coming Asian Enduro Series which is couple of days later. Rajesh plans to take the National Champion title this time which is currently owned by Shakar Yakthumba. Shakar will not be racing this year due to recent crash which left his shoulder broken. “i’ll be back soon” said the champion in recovery mode.
Talented young lad Chris Keeling will be racing in the Junior category. The future is bright for this young man.
Nepal is a country with the highest mountains and the most dedicated mountain bikers. Pranav Pokharel is one of them. This 11 years old boy got hooked to the sport a while ago and plans to continue forever. Pranav will the youngest downhill racer participating in the National Downhill Championship.
The race organizers were stoked to see more than 35 riders who have confirmed their entry for the 6th National Downhill Championship. The organizers and officials from Nepal Cycling Association briefed the riders about the race track details and are looking forward for a great start to April with a lot of action.
