It’s that time of year again when the earth’s best mountain bikers head out to the desert in Utah for Red Bull Rampage.

The most-watched mountain bike event of the year will see riders tackle drops of over 25m in the remote town of Virgin nestled in the Zion National Park.

The 2016 course has been modified, however the 11th edition still poses a difficult test for the MTB athletes competing across downhill, slopestyle and freeride.
Rampagers must study the course carefully to ensure they enhance their chances of scoring highly from the judges – made up of former competitors for the first time – in difficulty of line, air amplitude, control and fluidity, tricks and style.

Rule changes this year include fewer riders and crafting your own line with each competitor allowed two diggers for four days, while the obstacles tend towards nature rather than man-made ones.

In terms of riders to look out for, the last seven champions will take to the dirt again including 2008 winner Brandon Semenuk, 2010 king Cam Zink and reigning champion Kurt Sorge.
Not only that, Briton Sam Reynolds will be looking to replicate his daring form of last year when he scooped Best Trick for ‘Superman over the Canyon Gap’.
