Kohima Downhill & 4th Annual Hornbill Cycle Rally
Native Station Nagaland have started preparation for organizing 2nd Downhill Mountain Biking Race and 4th Annual Hornbill Cycle Rally.
We at Freerider Mountain Bike Magazine have supported Native Station’s motive and continue providing our assistance as much possible to these great bunch of people rolling the wheels in North East India. What’s more exciting? Department of Tourism has endorsed two of the most exciting cycling events in North-East – Kohima Downhill and Annual Hornbill Cycle Rally which we are clubbing under one banner as Hornbill Mountain Bike Festival. The mountain biking race Kohima Downhill 2015 and the 4th Annual Hornbill Cycle Rally will be held in December coinciding with the Hornbill Festival, which is one of the biggest indigenous festival in the country.
KOHIMA DOWNHILL | 4th December 2015
The race will be held in one of the most serene and logistically ideal location for the competition. According to Native Station; This year, the team has come up with the innovative idea to organize a very new concept which has rarely been organized anywhere in the world, a Jungle-semi-Urban Hybrid downhill MTB race.
The proposed track will start from the hilltop above Kisama Heritage down the trail and stairs in the Heritage Village to finish at the bottom of the venue. Native Station envisions to motivate and inspire a new generation of environmental conscious riders who will grow up with a conscience to build our dream Nation free from socio-economic impacts of chaotic urbanization and pollution.
4th Annual Hornbill Cycle Rally | 6th December 2015
The 4th Annual Hornbill Cycle Rally with the theme ‘Save the Hornbills’ aims to create awareness and draw attention to the importance of environmental conservation and preserving the majestic Hornbill bird which is becoming endangered and on the verge of extinction unless massive awareness is generated. The Hornbill Cycle Rally will be held on December 6 which will be flagged off at 8 am from Kisama Heritage Village. More than a hundred cyclists are expected to participate in one of the biggest cycle rallies in the North-East. Cyclists will ride in unison across the capital city and concluded the rally at the heart of Kohima – Kohima Local Ground. The rally will pass through the crowded streets of State Capital which will be witnessed by thousands of citizens and tourists gathered for celebrating the Hornbill Festival.
