India will witness a first of its kind mountain biking festival this July where mountain bikers from all around the world ride and party together for one week in the summer holiday season of the beautiful Himalayan state ‘Manali’ aka The Mountain Biking Capital of India.

Himalayan Mountain Bike Festival powered by Himalayan Mountain Bike Network is scheduled from 16th to 19th July 2015 and will host local trail riding sessions, cross country race, downhill race followed by post ride parties. The idea behind this festival is to bring all the riders together in the best riding destination of India where they can share their riding skills, experiences, chill out and party. This culture should also bring positive change in the young and growing mountain biking community of India where the sport is fairly new.

The Himalayan Mountain Bike Festival will start on 16th July with local trail riding session where the participants can check out the epic trails and riding options Manali has to offer.

Himalayan Trails ‘n’ Dust Mountain Bike Challenge, a cross country race that will be conducted on 17th July which will be full of beautiful singletrack through local villages and forests, technical sections and gnarly climbs. This will be the 5th version which is also one of the most wanted mountain bike race of Manali.

The main highlight of Himalayan Mountain Bike Festival will be the 2nd Himachal Downhill Mountain Bike Trophy which is the only downhill mountain bike race of India. The 2nd version of this race will be held at Ski Himalayas – Solang Ropeway and Ski Centre which is the best accessible venue to organize a downhill race in India.

This facility is equipped with modern gondola which will be used to shuttle DH rigs of participants from India, Nepal, United Kingdom and Ireland who will compete on a marked 2.5Km steep track located on a ski slope. The concept of Himalayan Mountain Bike Festival is inspired by world renowned events like Crankworx and Sea Otter Classic. Himalayan Mountain Bike Network team hopes to bring Himalayan Mountain Bike Festival on similar scale in coming years. The progression is bit slow as the support from the Indian industry is very low but we are hoping to get the support of bigger brands and organizations in coming time who follow the sport and understand this culture.

“The way this sport is going on in this country, It’s just like early 90’s when mountain biking was on progression stage in US and Europe. You can witness and be a part of it again.”
