The last couple of weeks have been massive for both the female mountain biking community and also the ilabbfamily. Three riders have gained mega results in some of the biggest MTB events in the world.

New Zealand downhill mountain biker and ilabbfamily member Alanna Columb has defended her NZ Championship title at Cadrona Bike Park, Wanaka on the 19th of March this year. She was unfazed by the competition, smashing her oponents times. Alanna took it to the next level the following Saturday 26th of March where she took out the Oceania Downhill Championship by just 0.18 seconds. She overcame two crashes during her final run, one quite big one towards the end of the course, but still managed to come out victorious. After two mega performances, Alanna is looking forward to taking this confidence boost into the World Series which she hopes to complete this year, aiming for the top 10.

Alanna’s Australian counterpart and fellow ilabbfamily member Tracey Hannah has also smashed the Downhill Australian Championships, winning her 9th Elite Women’s title with a perfect run on the final day of the event. After a scare in one of Tracey’s seeding runs, which saw her flip over the handlebars, she still managed to record the fastest time of the day to sit in first before the finals. Her final run was 4:39:12, 16 seconds ahead of the number 2 rider.

New Zealander and ilabbfamily member Enduro mountain biker Raewyn (Rae) Morrison has also seen sweet success over the weekend, finishing 6th overall in the Enduro World Series event in Chile. She has also signed to world-renowned French MTB team Lapierre Gravity Republic for this season, which appears to be paying off. This is her second year competing on the world circuit where she hopes to continue top 10 finishes, the ultimate goal of course being the podium.
