Lowe Alpine Strike 24 – Review

Follow our Trail:

Lowe Alpine; an outdoor equipment company from Colorado manufactures high quality outdoor equipment including packs and apparel for a wide range of outdoor activities.

Lowe Alpine released their product line in India recently and introduced the Strike 24 day pack which is the best in its class that our outdoor expert Naveen has ever tested.

As the name suggest, the Strike 24 can carry 24 liters of cargo and is a heavyweight champ when it comes to carrying all the gear you need for day-long riding adventure.

Although Strike 24 is not a riding specific back pack, but it provides outstanding stability and all day comfort on the trails and behaves nicely even if you decide to go fast and crazy on your bike.

Here are some great features of Lowe Alpine Strike 24:

  • Large main opening for easy access.
  • Top pocket for small essential items.
  • Air-Contour foam back reduces contact area.
  • Stretch mesh side pockets.
  • Unique tip gripper for securing walking poles.
  • Front zippered pocket with zip housing for easy access to maps etc.
  • LED light loop.
  • Front lash loops which are good for securing your helmet.
  • Removable webbing waist belt.
  • Pre-formed foam and ultra-lightweight AdaptiveFit™ harness for supreme carry comfort.
  • Lightweight and durable nylon 6.6 mini ripstop fabric.
  • Compression straps minimize volume and maintain internal stability of items.

The bag fitting is A+. A sliding, adjustable sternum strap and removable webbing waist belt enhance fit and stability.

The Strike 24 utilizes a fully padded Air Contour back panel to offer support and comfort. Mesh fabrics and chimney-like spacing between sections of padding enhance ventilation and create a comfortable feel against your body.

The Lowe Alpine Strike 24 is the most ventilated daypack we’ve tested, and here you can see the gap its frame creates between the pack and your back.

There are pockets aplenty, including side mesh pockets for water bottle or quick food items. However we would not recommend to use water bottle in the side mesh pockets when the bag is loaded. We had several moments where the water bottle slipped out of the mesh pocket.

We really like how this bag has a large main opening for easy access. A large zipper provides access to the main compartment of the Strike 24. The extremely spacious main compartment offers plenty of space for extra layers, food, and your camera along with other gear you need for the day.

We thought this pocket on the shoulder strap is to store sunglasses. But it’s not. You can only fit small items like your Mp3 Player, small GPS or a Swiss Knife.

Strike 24 also includes a mesh pocket on the inner compartment which can be used to store basic bike tools, spare tube, chain lube and other everyday tit-bits.  This also ensures everything remains well organized in your bag.

The slide compartment inside can be used to fit a water reservoir of your choice (not provided with the pack). We recommend a soft shell reservoir as it will not compromise with the items you wish to carry. A 15 inch laptop can also easily fit in this section.

No need to worry if you’re stuck in an emergency situation in the woods. A SOS chart on the inside of the bag is something really cool and we have not seen in any other day pack till now. This is where Lowe Alpine’s creativity stands out and will “hopefully” help you to tackle these situations.

An emergency whistle buckle attached to the shoulder strap is another perfect attention getting item during any kind of emergency situations. We recommend all backpack manufacturers to make this as standard with their day packs / hydration bags.

A small top pocket for essential items such as your phone, wallet or any other small items. It also comes with a strap that has a clip at the end for you to clip your keys on as well.

The secure tip gripper trekking pole loops are also part of this great daypack which gives your walking sticks a secure placement.

The Lowe Alpine Strike 24 is very smart and simple design. The stylish, panel-loading day pack is ideal for everyday use, fast-and-light day hiking and other activities including our favorite mountain biking.

What we really missed was the rain cover which is not provided with the Strike 24 and apart from the unfriendly mesh pockets on the outside, the Lowe Alpine Strike 24 performed very well during the trail ride and the storage capacity made us forget the small error.

This pack definitely deserves a 4/5 rating.

The Lowe Alpine Strike 24 day pack is available in many attractive colors through Trek Kit India at a budget friendly price of INR 5399 only.
