Mavic’s 2018 lineup

Highlighted by the new Deemax Pro, the wheelset Sam Hill just rode to the Enduro World Series Championship, Mavic’s 2018 U.S. mountain bike range has yet to hit shelves but already boasts some serious credentials. Combining race-proven performance with new technologies and modern styling, the 2018 line sees Mavic’s mountain bike range take some major steps forward.

Following is an overview of select items from the ‘18 lineup, which will be available at Mavic.com and at select retailers nationwide. Photos of the ‘18 U.S. mountain bike range are available for download here.

Wheels:
Deemax Pro ($1099) Quite simply, the Deemax Pro wheelset delivers. The newest wheel in a Deemax line that’s been winning races for two decades, the Deemax Pro has already proven worthy. On enduro’s biggest stages, and under the most demanding conditions, it does exactly what it’s designed to do: go fast, and do it reliably. With a reduced spoke-count, steel spokes and slimmer internal rim widths (25mm in the rear, 28mm up front) translating to weight savings and reduced rolling resistance, there’s no better wheel for going fast.
XA Elite+ ($649): With a 40mm internal width recommended for use with tires 2.35 to 3.2” and zicral construction “soft” is a word that comes to mind, even with a little extra air in the tires. But soft doesn’t necessarily mean sluggish, and with steel spokes laced to an ITS-4 freehub that engages quickly and reliably it’s a wheel that snaps to when you demand it. Weighing in at 1900 grams per pair and at a price that won’t break the bank, it’s an ideal wheelset for dipping your toes in the plus-sized pool.

Helmets:
XA Pro Helmet ($149.95) Mavic’s newest trail helmet, the XA Pro, utilizes a clima flow ventilation system that will help keep you cool on hot rides. Expanded lower rear coverage and EPS 4D impact technology helps protect from whatever misadventures the trail throw your way.
Crossmax SL Pro w/ MIPS ($169.95) A race-bred pure cross country lid that combines speed and style. The 2018 helmet line sees the inclusion of MIPS technology to a Live-fit system that delivers adaptable comfort and safety throughout your ride, minimizing “hot spots” for long days in the saddle

Shoes:
XA Pro Shoe ($179.95) Striking that perfect balance between pedalling performance and flexibility for walking/ hiking is not easily done, but the new XA Pro manages it with ease. A carbon composite inner plate delivers pedaling performance and it’s wrapped in a new Energy Grip Trail + Outsole that provides for optimum stability and excellent pedal control.

Crossmax Pro Shoe ($249.95): If you plan on staying (mostly) clipped in, there might not be a better everyday mountain bike shoe on the market. A reviewer favorite, the Crossmax Pro is back with new colorways for 2018 and the same, bomber design. Featuring an Energy Grip Terra Carbon outsole that’s lightweight and stiff, converting maximum energy in each pedal stroke and 3D+ Ortholite cushioning, it’s as efficient on the way up as it is comfortable on the way down.

Apparel:
Deemax Short and undershort ($129.95/ $69.95): Rugged enough to handle the rowdiest missions, yet understated in its styling, the deemax short/ undershort combo is the every day short you’ll be reaching for.
