Mountain biking in Bangladesh has been gaining momentum in the past few years. A first in the books for MTB Bangladesh, they hosted the XCO championship in Chittagong this June. With no sponsors and three months of preparation, MTB Bangladesh flagged off their first XCO race that ran through the beautiful tea plantations in Hathazari.

Nearly 30 racers lined up on the start line at the inaugural MTB Bangladesh XCO Championship.

A 7.2km Loop in Fatickchari Odulia Tea Garden included 30% uphill, 20% downhill, 30% flowy sections and 20% tech root sections.

Noble Dey, is a young up and comer who shows good potential on the XC course. Straight onto a second place finish. At 20 years of age, Noble has a good ride ahead of him.
Chasing his way to the top spot, Mahtab Ibn Azad (33) from Chittagong took home the WINNER’s cheque at the inaugural MTB Bangladesh XCO Championship 2019.

In a nation where cycling is not followed as much, the dedicated team of MTB Bangladesh hopes to see more mountain bikers across the country and is working on organizing more XCO races later this year.
