Brandon Semenuk won Red Bull Joyride for a true 3 peat, yes folks that’s 3 times in a row and now has 4 wins to his name. Really that’s like winning the Super Bowl in Football or the World Cup in Soccer, maybe like a Stanley Cup or how about the Cricket World Cup. No one has ever done this before and it’s doubtful it will be repeated unless of course he comes back again next to take it again.
I was told by a top rider there was two Joyride contests: One between Semenuk and Rheeder and one for the rest of the field. That’s a harsh reality when the top two riders are dueling it out for first and second while the others fight over third place. Well the game table was turn upside down when Brett Rheeder crashed out on both runs and that left second and third up for grabs.
It would be Nicholi Rogatkin who would finally complete a full run with what was said to be his “Safety Run” to get snag 2’nd and Thomas Genon, Tommy G would throw down hard to claim the 3’rd spot on the podium.
The remaining riders had awesome runs and laid it down for the fans. In the end Brett Rheeder who was battling fatigue and had Monster issues with the pressure of trying to win 3/3 events won the World Slopestyle title with 2/3 events, something no one else had ever done.
Semenuks run was:
Opposite Truck Driver
360 Downside Tailwhip
Backflip Double Tailwhip
Backflip Tailwhip to Can
Double Truck Driver
Flat Drop Backflip
