Metal is Back: Solid Strike EVO 2017
The Solid Strike has already proven itself as a true racing machine in the past two years with several podiums at National and International level. Now arrives the new incarnation for 2017, the Strike EVO which takes the bike up a level; making it lighter, faster and even more of a blast to ride.
The new Strike EVO is an all aluminum build, using no carbon parts and weighs in at an incredible 15.3kgs/33.7lbs!
For Solid Bikes owner, Peter Schmid, the project was initially an experiment. “I was just thinking that aluminium as a material is not yet completely exhausted and therefore we started to work intensively on the project “No Carbon” to work to carry out tests and to continuously optimize our platform. In the end we reduced the frame weight by 300g, whilst improving strength and stiffness. The result: carbon as a material in no way guarantees a reduced weight of a downhill bike therefore the new Solid Strike Evo performs at the highest level without any carbon parts and is a strong, reliable, modern and above all else, faster DH bike than the predecessor.”
The Strike EVO has not only reduced in weight, we redesigned a new rear linkage in the bike: milled from one piece of 6061 T6, lighter and more precise in response. The aim was to increase stiffness and to attain a more visually intricate and refined finish. Initially, two models of the new Solid Strike EVO will be available. First, the Solid Strike EVO Factory and Solid Strike EVO BPS. Both bikes are no compromise, race ready machines.
The Factory and BPS are both available in the two impressive new colourways; stealthy black-silver and the bright teal-blue. For the near future, an even more affordable version of Solid Strike EVO is planned, the EVO Race model to be offered at € 2,999.
The Solid Strike EVO Factory comes first, with Fox suspension. After extensive testing with a number of dampers, the air-sprung Fox X2 has emerged as the optimal rear counterpart to the Solid Strike EVO. The Factory model comes equipped with awesome Kashima coated 2017 Fox suspension front and rear. The direct sales model means that with Solid Bikes, racers and bike park shredders alike get an incredible deal with a great performance-price ratio. You don’t have to hold on for long until you can get riding a 2017 Strike, framesets and full bikes can be ordered online from the 27th August.
First delivery of framesets will be made from 12th September and first delivery of complete bikes will be made by the end of September. As always, bikes are assembled by hand by Solid Bikes in the Black Forest and so the series are produced carefully and shipped thereafter.
