FR MTB MAG: When did you start racing?
SUMAN: I have been racing since 3 years. My first race was 3rd National Downhill Championship of Nepal in 2013 in which I got 13th position.
FR MTB MAG: Who inspired you to get in the world of mountain biking or who are your biggest influences in the sport?
SUMAN: My brothers Shyam Limbu, Anuj Adhikary, Rajesh Lama, Sushovit Chaudhary, Suwas Maharjan, Bikash Shrestha and many more. My close friend’s Rajesh Magar and Nishant Shah has been playing a great role because we three have grown together in this field and they have always inspired me to get in the world of mountain biking.
FR MTB MAG: Describe your riding style.
SUMAN: My discipline is Downhill, Freeride and Dirt Jump.
FR MTB MAG: Your greatest achievement to date:
SUMAN: My greatest achievement is winning the title of 3rd Himalayan Downhill Mountain Bike Trophy 2016 (Organized by Himalayan Mountain Bike Network) because it was my second international race and I got 1st position back to my country Nepal. This annual DH race is held in Manali, India.
FR MTB MAG: Tell us more about your current bike and what makes it so special?
SUMAN: My current bike is Commencal Supreme FR which I got 2 weeks ago. Before this, I used to rent bikes for races. But now I am happy as I have my own bike finally with the help of my sponsors. This Supreme FR is my childhood’s dream bike and the best machine to play with.
FR MTB MAG: We have seen you racing regularly for a while now and you won the recent Himalayan Downhill Mountain Bike Trophy. What are the coming races that you are training for?
SUMAN: The coming races I am training for are Asian Downhill Championship 2017, Asian Enduro Series 2017, 7th National Downhill Championship of Nepal, Palpa Urban Downhill Championship 2017. I am training really hard for upcoming races and I will give my best in these planned races.
FR MTB MAG: What are your favorite types of trails and riding zones in Nepal?
SUMAN: My favorite types of trails are technical and flowy trails combined with singletracks.
My favorite riding zones in Nepal are Hattiban Downhill Track at Hattiban, Singletracks at Khokana, Urban Downhill Trails at Palpa and Technical trails located in Shivapuri National park.
FR MTB MAG: If you could ride with your favorite rider anywhere in the world, where would you go and with whom?
SUMAN: If I get a chance to ride with my favorite rider he would be Andrew Lacondeguy and I would love to ride in Whistler Mountain Bike Park with him and hit some crazy tracks.
FR MTB MAG: What are your current and future goals in life and what are you doing to achieve these goals?
SUMAN: My current goals is to win as many downhill titles and my future goal is to win the Asian Downhill Championship. After that I would like attack more international races.
