Kohima, Nagaland in north-east India, steamed up again this winter during the Hornbill Festival 2017. Around the same time, Native Station organizes their mountain biking celebration – Kohima Downhill. The Nagaland Downhill Championship was successfully conducted where 20 hardcore downhillers from the state with balls of steel competed for the coveted title – “The Fastest Naga DH Rider” The event was solely organised to promote, motivate and reward riders from Nagaland   The 1st Nagaland Downhill Championship organized by Trail Hounds Cycling Club at Mokokchung was won by Benny Metha, a 17-year old, representing Xtreme Tribal Brothers (XTB) racing team from Kohima and bagged the title of “Fastest Naga Downhill Mountain Biker”. 3rd Kohima DH 2016

The biggest indigenous festival of India, Hornbill Festival in Kohima, Nagaland now has a new age sport in the mix, Mountain Biking. For the 3rd year, Native Station put together a downhill race for the knobby tired youth! This year’s race was supported by Nagaland Tourism Department and the prizes by Giant Starkenn bikes. The inaugural ‘Enduro’ race in Nagaland during the ‘Thuwu-Ni’ Festival had a mix of riders from cross country as well as Downhill. A 10Km Course with 75% climb and 25% Descent, the course gave every racer room for showing their racing skills.
