Tour of the Dragon: The Toughest One-Day Mountain Bike Race
Since 2010, Bhutan has been organizing mountain bike races. For 2015, there are two races scheduled for September 5. “Dragon’s Fury” is a 60km race that starts in Messina at an altitude of 4,625ft, goes up to Dochula at 10,330ft and then heads downhill to finish in Thimpu’s city square. “Tour of the Dragon” is a much longer (268km) and more strenuous race; the route begins in Bumthang and then goes over four mountain passes, ending in the same city square.
